Botox

What Is Botox?

Botox works to temporarily reduce activity in the underlying muscle that causes wrinkles in the skin. It works to make lines look smoother and less visible. Botox works best on wrinkles that appear with movements such as smiling, frowning, and furrowing. The Botox procedure has been proven effective and a safe treatment that patients routinely ask for by name. Ophthalmology was the first specialty for Botox to be approved by the FDA in the 1980s, specifically for blepharospasms (chronic eye twitching). Since then, it has expanded its use for many other diagnoses and issues.

Where Is Botox Injected?

We apply Botox in 3 main areas for wrinkling of the skin: Crow’s feet around the eyes, vertical frown lines between the eyes, and horizontal lines on the forehead. We can also use Botox to treat Migraine Headaches or blepharospasms.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Botox typically takes 3-7 days to begin to work, 2-3 weeks to fully set in, and lasts 3-4 months. Results may vary. It is recommended to receive Botox injections every 3-4 months to achieve the best results.

How much does Botox cost?

Botox pricing is based on the number of units needed to achieve your desired results. A consultation with one of our aesthetic experts is needed to understand your aesthetic goals and what we can do to achieve your goals. What Can I Expect During a Botox Treatment?

The procedure will only take a couple of minutes but plan to be at the office for around 30 minutes. We will inject the Botox into the appropriate areas using a fine needle. Typically, we do not use any anesthetic, but we can use ice if necessary. After the procedure, you may have small welts that may be red that go away on their own in a few minutes to a few hours. Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Avoid laying flat for the first 3 hours after. Do not touch or rub on the areas injected. Avoid things that may thin the blood and cause bleeding or bruising such as drinking alcohol or taking aspirin, etc.
